Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has conducted over 13,669 inspections on various transport modes in Dubai.
Taxis, limousines, hourly rented cars as well as the transportation for passengers with unlicensed vehicles in various areas were held during the second quarter of this year.
The inspections identified vehicles in breach of regulations and cleaning standards, drivers were educated about the importance of maintaining personal hygiene, keeping their vehicles clean and complying with the instructions made to reduce the number of complaints filed.
Saeed Al Balooshi, Director of Passenger Transport Activities Monitoring, Licensing Agency of RTA said, “Inspections were focused on maintaining the interior and exterior appearance of taxis, limousines and hourly rented cars to maintain the service level of Dubai as a world class tourist destination. The operations were also aimed to stress the compliance with the regulations and guidance governing the transport of passengers on unlicensed vehicles. The campaigns resulted in issuing 626 offence tickets on various activities. Inspections covered about 90% of cars rented by hours fleet, 81% of the taxi fleet, and 85% of the limousine fleet. The operations also resulted in 349 offences reported for transporting passengers on unlicensed vehicles (illegal passenger transport) in the second quarter of 2021.”
