Deep Dive Dubai, the world's deepest swimming pool for diving has opened in Dubai.
The pool has received the Guinness World Record for the deepest diving pool, with a depth of over 60 metres and holds around 14 million litres of water, the equivalent of six Olympic-sized swimming pools.
His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of Dubai Executive Council, as well as His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairman of the Dubai Media Council, were present for the opening.
The pool will offer freediving and scuba diving experiences and courses for individuals with various diving ability levels, led by a team of international diving professionals.
Visitors aged 10 and above, can participate in three guided experiences offered, Discover, Dive and Develop.
The Discover option is for individuals that want to take a single dive or take their first steps towards certification as a diver, the Dive option will allow individuals to dive within their certification limits and the Develop option will offer training to develop skills and gain scuba diving and freediving certifications, from entry-level to instructor-level.
A sunken city for divers is also available at the pool for divers to explore, including an abandoned streetscape, an apartment, garage and arcade.
Deep Dive Dubai is located in Nad Al Sheba, and is shaped like a giant oyster, based on the UAE’s pearl-diving heritage.
The pool will also include two underwater habitats with a dry chamber at 6 and 21 metres, 56 underwater cameras covering all angles of the pool, and advanced sound and mood lighting systems.
The pool’s freshwater is filtered and circulated every six hours through siliceous volcanic rocks, NASA-developed filter technology and UV radiation.
The facility will also feature an underwater film studio along with a media editing room and will also offer onsite catering options for meetings, conferences and events.
Visiting Deep Dive Dubai is currently only available by invitation, however will be open to the public in late July with more information available on the Deep Dive Dubai website.
