The Abu Dhabi Emergency, Crisis and Disaster Committee has approved a pilot of advanced scanners that will help identify individuals with COVID-19.
During the initial phase, the scanners will be used at entry points into Abu Dhabi, at public entrances at Yas Island and at entry and exit points in the Musaffah area.
The scanners will use advanced technology as a means to ensure public safety, and will add to the existing precautionary measures.
The scanners operate from a distance and will detect the virus and will provide immediate results through mass screening, without recording.
If an individual is not detected with the virus, they can enter. If the scanner detects a person with the virus, a PCR test needs to be taken within 24 hours.
All PCR tests taken in relation to the scanners are free.
