Al Jalila Foundation, an organisation dedicated to helping lives through medical innovation, has announced plans to open ‘Hamdan Bin Rashid Cancer Charity Hospital’, which will be the first charity hospital in the UAE to help cancer patients in need.
The hospital will be completed in two phases with the official opening of the facility in 2023.
The hospital’s name pays a tribute to the late Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum for his lifetime of service to the nation and his global philanthropic achievements.
The cancer hospital is under the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of UAE and Ruler of Dubai.
The hospital will feature 250 beds, be equipped with cutting-edge technology, and will offer services ranging from prevention, diagnosis, treatment to palliative care.
The first phase of the plan will see the construction of the first wing of the hospital with 150 beds with the second phase expanding capacity to 250 beds.
The facility will also have the capacity to treat 30,000 patients in a year.
The hospital will have highly trained medical professionals and advanced medical technologies and is also set to support cancer research and train future medical professionals.
