The official logo for the UAE’s first Arab and Emirati mission to the International Space Station (ISS) was unveiled by the Mohammed Bin Rashid Space Centre (MBRSC), in cooperation with the Federal Youth Authority (FYA).
The mission logo pays tribute to the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, founding father of the UAE, and reflects late Sheikh Zayed’s ambition for the Emirati youth to explore space and his belief in the abilities of the youth.
The logo features an illustration of the UAE’s founding father, the national flag and the name of Hazzaa Al Mansoori, the first UAE astronaut set to go on the space mission.
Hazzaa Al Mansoori will wear the logo on his shoulder, during the historic mission to ISS on 25 September this year.
UAE Astronaut Programme was launched in 2017 by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, and His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, to train and prepare a team of Emiratis to be sent to space for various scientific missions.
