Five public beaches in Dubai will be hoisting ‘Blue Flags’ for the first time as they receive global accreditation from the Foundation for Economic Education (FEE) for being the cleanest, safest and the most environment friendly beaches.
The beaches which have won the accolade are in Jumeirah 1, 2, 3 and in Umm Suqeim 1 and 2. Blue Flag status was gained after regularly assessing these beaches on strict parameters including water quality, safety, environmental management and access to safety equipment.
Commenting on winning the global recognition, Dawoud Al Hajri, Director-General of Dubai Municipality said, “Dubai public beaches getting approval for using the Blue Flag is an affirmation of the Municipality’s commitment to make the beaches a tourist attraction and an aesthetic destination. They offer modern services, comfort and security for all segments of the society.”
