Dubai’s Road and Transport Authority (RTA) has rolled out a new programme called ‘Kafou’ to celebrate outstanding performance of its taxi drivers. Those with high rating will earn points which they can compensate against fines or black points.
Passengers can rate a taxi driver’s performance through the RTA’s Smart Taxi app.
‘Kafou’ is an Arabic word which translates to well done. There are approximately 25,000 taxi drivers working across all the RTA licensed taxi companies across the Emirate and the new programme is applicable to all.
Adel Shakri, from the RTA said, “RTA is keen on rewarding employees of all affiliated agencies and sectors according to sound international standards. RTA has opted to launch ‘Kafou’ programme for excellent taxi drivers acting as ambassadors of RTA to the public.”
