Many will remember the Good Conduct Certificate that was made mandatory back from the beginning of February for expats seeking a job and work visa, as an initiative to screen newcomers that wish to reside in the UAE.
The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation announced on twitter that the requirement will be delayed until further notice. The announcement comes after many employers and job seekers found it difficult to understand the requirements for the certificate or found delays in obtaining it, while embassies experienced an overrun with confused citizens struggling with the job process and the new requirement.
With the delay, the UAE government will seek to ease and standardise the certificate process.
The delay for the Good Conduct Certificate came into effect in 1 April.
