Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has successfully wrapped up the installation of solar energy systems across 22 buildings and facilities, in a bold move to advance its commitment to renewable energy and environmental sustainability.
Part of the broader Zero-Emissions Strategy 2050, this initiative also aligns with the Dubai Clean Energy Strategy 2050 and the Dubai Integrated Energy Strategy 2030, aiming to reduce the carbon footprint and promote sustainable urban infrastructure.
The installations span 16 key RTA facilities, including bus depots in Al Quoz, Al Khawaneej, and Al Rowaiyah, bus stations in Al Satwa and Oud Metha, maintenance workshops in Al Muhaisnah, and metro depots, among other strategic locations.
The solar panels were installed in accordance with Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) standards and are tailored to each facility’s unique needs. Real-time monitoring of the systems is carried out using DEWA’s Shams Dubai Calculator, ensuring optimal operational efficiency and sustainability tracking.
This milestone highlights the RTA’s continued efforts to integrate clean energy technologies into public services and to lead by example in environmental stewardship.
