New Regulations On Children’s Car Seats

March marks the month that children’s car seats officially need to reach mandatory quality standards as enforced by ESMA. The laws for car seat standardisation initially was a result of UAE Cabinet issue resolution in 2017 but will come to force now.

The new child seat rules in the UAE requires distributors to obtain a certificate of conformity to the rules and regulations before any new products can enter the market. In line with the initiative, ESMA’s Department of Conformity Affairs has commenced awareness campaigns for all producers of car seats and to also raise public awareness.

The purpose of the new regulations is to make sure the products are meeting international standards of safety and manufacturers will need to show the appropriate documents and requirements. There will also be monitoring programmes, market surveys and coordination with each emirate to enforce the new law.
