A rare and timeless piece of UAE memorabilia will be going under the hammer on March 23rd for Christie’s Dubai auction of Important Watches at Jumeirah Emirates Towers Hotel.
It’s a stainless steel, dual time Rolex GMT-Master wristwatch which was serviced by Rolex Geneva in 2017. Within a Rolex box designed with the crest of the UAE, the watch was commissioned for none other than His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of UAE and Ruler of Dubai, when he was appointed the first Minister of Defence in 1971, the year the country was founded. He was also the youngest individual to ever hold the position in the world.
The watch has a black matte dial and features the name of Sheikh Mohammed in Arabic. It is estimated to be sold for Dhs 440,000-590,000.
