Dubai's public transport network, shared mobility options, and taxis recorded 348.1 million rider journeys during the first half of 2026. Daily ridership averaged nearly 1.9 million passengers across the emirate.
Data released by the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) shows that figures cover the Dubai Metro, Dubai Tram, public buses, marine transport, taxis, and app-based shared mobility services.
Dubai Metro was the most popular mode of public transport used, accounting for 39.2% and carrying over 136 million passengers. Taxis were teh second most popular accounting for 88.9 million passengers, at 25.5% and public buses carried 85.1 million passengers, representing 24.4% of total ridership.
Limousine services accounted for an additional 5.7 million journeys over the same six-month period.
Public and shared transport now accounts for 22.3% of all trips made in Dubai, compared to just 6% in 2006.
For commuters in Dubai, these developments signal shorter transit times and increased coverage as the city continues its structural shift toward mass transit.
