Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has opened a new bridge connecting Dubai Harbour directly to Sheikh Zayed Road, marking a major infrastructure upgrade aimed at easing congestion and improving access to the waterfront destination.
The 1.5-kilometre bridge, which features two lanes in each direction, now allows motorists travelling from Sheikh Zayed Road in both the Deira and Jebel Ali directions to access Dubai Harbour directly.
According to the RTA, the bridge is designed to accommodate up to 6,000 vehicles per hour in both directions. Travel time between Sheikh Zayed Road and Dubai Harbour is expected to fall from approximately 12 minutes to just three minutes, helping to reduce pressure on surrounding roads in Dubai Marina, Al Sufouh and neighbouring communities. Additional phases are scheduled to open in the coming weeks, including routes connecting Dubai Harbour to Al Naseem Street and the intersection of King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud Street and Al Naseem Street.
Located between Palm Jumeirah and Bluewaters Island, Dubai Harbour has become a major residential, leisure and tourism hub, attracting residents, visitors and cruise passengers throughout the year. The new bridge is expected to improve accessibility to the district while supporting future development plans in the area.
