Her Highness Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, The Mother of the Nation, Chairwoman of the General Women's Union (GWU), President of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood, and Supreme Chairwoman of the Family Development Foundation, has shared a powerful message ahead of Emirati Women’s Day, celebrated annually on 28 August. The message highlighted Emirati women as the heartbeat of UAE society and the foundation of its unity and sustainable progress.
Emirati women's day celebration, held this year under the theme 'Hand in Hand, We Celebrate 50 Years', marks the anniversary of the GWU’s founding in 1975.
Her Highness Sheikha Fatima also stressed that women’s empowerment in the UAE is not just a policy but a long-term national success story that has strengthened family life, enhanced social cohesion, and contributed to the country’s global standing.
The ongoing National Policy for Empowerment of Emirati Women 2023-2031, which ensures women’s participation across all sectors and supports leadership opportunities, was also highlighted in the message.
Her Highness Sheikha Fatima also recognised Emirati women’s growing international presence, with many holding leadership positions on the global stage, reflecting the world’s confidence in their competence and vision. The message concluded by affirming how Emirati women’s contributions to the economy and family life remain essential pillars of the UAE’s progress and cohesion.
