Abu Dhabi's Yas Island will soon be home to a brand-new Disney Theme Park Resort, following a landmark agreement between The Walt Disney Company and Miral, the developer behind Yas Island’s top theme parks like Ferrari World and Warner Bros. World.
Yas Island is already known as a hub for world-class leisure and tourism. Once completed, it will be the seventh Disney theme park destination globally, joining established sites in California, Florida, Tokyo, Paris, Hong Kong and Shanghai. Notably, this will be the first Disney theme park in the Middle East. The opening date of the Disney Theme Park Resort in Yas Island is yet to confirmed.
Under the agreement, Miral will oversee development and operations, while Disney will lead the creative direction, including the design of immersive attractions that showcase the brand’s legendary storytelling.
The announcement was made in the presence of His Highness Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Executive Council, who welcomed the project and called it a reflection of the emirate’s growing reputation as a global tourism and cultural destination.
Bob Iger, CEO of The Walt Disney Company, also expressed his enthusiasm for the project saying, "Abu Dhabi’s position as an international crossroads, its embrace of global culture, and its ambitious vision for the future make it a perfect location for Disney to reach millions of new families and captivate guests for generations to come".
The arrival of Disney Theme Park Resort is expected to significantly increase both international tourism and regional visitor numbers to the UAE.
