His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, has announced 2025 as the Year of Community, an inspiring vision aimed at bringing the diverse groups, all of whom call UAE their home, together into building an inclusive, united and empowered society.
Under the slogan ‘Hand in Hand’, the national initiative invites citizens, residents and organisations to actively contribute to ‘strengthening social bonds and fostering unity across society’.
The Vision
The Year of Community focusses on preserving cultural heritage, nurturing intergenerational connections and creating opportunities for collaboration. Its primary vision is to unite individuals from diverse backgrounds to promote the internal cohesion of the UAE society, while celebrating family and community ties and upholding principles that prioritises the well-being of those in need.
The initiative also aims to discover new talent and foster innovation, particularly in emerging fields like artificial intelligence, entrepreneurship and other key national priorities. By doing this, the UAE government continues its efforts to maintain its global position as a leader in progress and prosperity.
His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, echoed these sentiments, highlighting the role of a strong community in shaping a brighter future. “The foundation of our nation’s strength lies in a united community, where individuals are connected, and care is extended to each other. A strong community thrives on fortified families, and lays the groundwork for a brighter future for generations to come”, he said in a social media post.

Throughout 2025, a variety of events and initiatives will take place to promote community cohesion and foster a thriving environment where everyone can contribute to progress. These efforts will focus on strengthening social bonds, creating inclusive spaces and encouraging active participation in community service, volunteering and innovative projects.
The initiative invites all residents—whether citizens or expats—to share ideas and proposals to enhance social harmony and drive the UAE’s collective growth.
Building on the momentum of previous national initiatives like the Year of Sustainability in 2024, the Year of Community reaffirms the UAE’s vision of progress fuelled by unity.
