For safety reasons, e-scooters and e-bikes are now banned in the Jumeirah Beach Residence (JBR) community. This includes The Walk at JBR, where notices in Arabic and English have been posted to inform about the ban.
Battery-powered mobility devices are restricted from the ground and plaza levels of The Walk. In a statement to Khaleej Times, Dubai Community Management said, "The vibrant tourist hotspot and family-friendly community JBR has restricted the use of e-scooters on the ground and plaza levels of The Walk. This measure aims to ensure the safety of residents and visitors, prevent accidents and maintain the pedestrian-friendly appeal of the area."
Besides this, recently, Dubai Police reported that in the first half of 2024, accidents involving e-scooters, bicycles, and electric bikes resulted in four fatalities, one severe injury, 19 moderate injuries, and five minor injuries. Additionally, 7,804 violations were recorded, and 4,474 scooters and bicycles were confiscated during this period.
Hence for the safety of the residents, this measure has been implemented in JBR.
