Dubai Police reported that in the first half of 2024, accidents involving e-scooters, bicycles, and electric bikes resulted in four fatalities, one severe injury, 19 moderate injuries, and five minor injuries. Additionally, 7,804 violations were recorded, and 4,474 scooters and bicycles were confiscated during this period.
Major General Abdullah Ali Al Ghaithi, Assistant Commandant for Operations Affairs at Dubai Police, underscored the force's dedication to enhancing traffic awareness and fostering a safety-oriented mindset among road users to prevent accidents and ensure overall safety.

He highlighted the risks associated with e-scooters, bicycles, and electric bikes, especially when misused on public roads or unauthorised areas.
Abdullah Ali Al Ghaithi stressed the importance of regular awareness campaigns to prioritise the safety of riders and other road users. He also outlined fines of up to Dhs 300 for violations such as exceeding speed limits, reckless riding, carrying passengers on e-scooters, and riding against traffic.
