Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) is completing a major road enhancement to ease congestion between Ras Al Khor and Al Meydan Street Interchange, increasing traffic capacity by 50%, from 1,800 to 2,700 vehicles per hour.
The project involves widening the right turn for vehicles coming from Ras Al Khor towards Al Meydan Street Interchange, expanding it from two lanes to three. Scheduled for completion on 10 August, the upgrade will improve traffic flow for motorists travelling between Ras Al Khor Industrial Area and Nad Al Sheba, while streamlining access to Al Meydan Street and surrounding areas.
These improvements are also expected to benefit drivers heading to Business Bay, Al Quoz, Al Safa, and nearby areas.
RTA officials say the initiative is part of a wider strategic plan to keep pace with Dubai’s rapid growth. Earlier this week, RTA had announced the opening of a new exit that improves traffic flow from Financial Centre Street to Ras Al Khor Road.
Such road projects are prioritised through a mix of traffic studies, operational monitoring, feedback from the public, and real-time analysis from RTA’s control centre. The aim is to cut travel times, reduce congestion, and improve road safety across the city.
