Harrow School, one of the world's prestigious educational institutions established in 1572 under a Royal Charter by Queen Elizabeth I, is expanding its presence to the UAE. Harrow International Schools Limited (HISL) has finalised an agreement with Taaleem Holdings PJSC (Taaleem), a leading provider of K-12 education (K-12 education in the UAE starts at age four for kindergarten and continues until age 17 for secondary level) in the UAE. This partnership aims to introduce a series of Harrow International Schools across the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries, including Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Bahrain, Oman, Qatar, and Kuwait. The first of these Taaleem Harrow Schools will open in the UAE.
In this partnership, Taaleem Holdings will introduce Harrow's renowned educational standards to the GCC region, integrating local cultural aspects for a comprehensive learning journey. The Taaleem Harrow Schools will be privately owned and operated by Taaleem, a leader in K-12 education with 31 schools in the UAE serving nearly 38,000 students.
The Taaleem Harrow Schools will utilise Harrow School’s name and badge through a sub-licence agreement with HISL, the trading subsidiary of the charity that owns Harrow School and its trademarks.
While Taaleem will independently manage all educational, administrative, financial, and operational aspects of the Taaleem Harrow Schools, they are obligated under their sub-licences to uphold Harrow School’s educational purpose, practices, strategies, and philosophies. These will be tailored to meet the specific needs of their students and locations.
HISL will oversee compliance with these standards through its oversight teams, which conduct regular reviews of each Harrow-branded school. Additionally, the schools’ Governing Boards will include two representatives from HISL.
Commenting on this partnership, Mr David Eyton, Chairman of the Governors of Harrow School, said, "We are delighted to expand the opportunity for more children to access a Harrow education with Taaleem, a partner who shares our commitment to raising educational standards by focusing on the development of pupils’ talents and passions."
Khalid Al Tayer, Chairman of Taaleem, added, "We are incredibly proud to partner with Harrow International Schools Limited. This agreement marks a significant milestone for Taaleem as we bring Harrow’s long-standing tradition of excellence to the GCC. We are committed to providing our students with the highest standards of education, fostering an environment where they can thrive both academically and personally."
Details about the fees, locations in the UAE, and date of launch are yet to be revealed.
