UAE Weather: Heavy Rainfall, Lightning And Thunder Expected Over The Weekend

Today, 7 March, in the UAE, residents can expect partly cloudy weather, which will become cloudier as the day progresses into Friday morning. There will be some scattered convective clouds, particularly in the western areas, bringing rainfall. Temperatures will rise steadily throughout the day. Winds will vary from light to moderate, occasionally picking up and causing blowing dust and sand, potentially affecting visibility. Seas will be slight to moderate in the Arabian Gulf and slight in the Oman Sea.

This morning, the lowest temperature recorded was 9.6°C in Jais Mountain at 6am. National Center Of Meterology (NCM) also reported light rainfall in various areas including Um Ghafah, Al Sarouj in Al Ain, Mohammed Bin Zayed City, and Mussafah in Abu Dhabi.

The maximum temperature across the country is expected to range between 23°C to 28°C, while the lowest temperature will be between 9°C to 14°C. Coastal areas will see highs between 20°C to 25°C, and mountainous regions between 13°C to 19°C. 

NCEMA To Hold A Special Meeting Today

Today, Thursday, 7 March, the UAE's National Emergency, Crisis, and Disaster Management Authority (NCEMA) will hold a dedicated media briefing regarding the upcoming weather conditions. In collaboration with the Ministry of Interior and the National Centre for Meteorology (NCM), these three organisations have called the media briefing to address the forthcoming weather. The briefing is scheduled for 5pm today.

NCM Predicts Lighting, Thunder On Friday, Saturday And Sunday 

On Friday, 8 March, the weather in the UAE will be unstable, with partly to mostly cloudy skies. There will be scattered convective clouds across the country, bringing rainfall of varying intensities along with lightning and thunder.

Winds will be moderate to fresh, coming from the southeast to northeast directions, occasionally becoming strong. It could lead to blowing dust and sand, reducing visibility, with speeds ranging from 20kmh to 30kmh and reaching up to 60kmh. The sea conditions will be moderate, becoming rough with cloudy weather in the Arabian Gulf and the Oman Sea.

On Saturday, 9 March, UAE residents will experience unstable weather conditions with partly to mostly cloudy skies. There will be scattered convective clouds across the country, bringing rainfall of varying intensities accompanied by lightning and thunder. Additionally, there will be a decrease in temperatures.

Winds will be moderate to fresh, blowing from the southeast to northeast directions, occasionally becoming strong. The sea conditions will be rough in the Arabian Gulf and the Oman Sea.

Fog Formation Chances On Sunday 

The weekend in the UAE will wrap up with the possibility of rainfall and the formation of fog or mist. On Sunday, 10 March, residents can expect partly to mostly cloudy skies in some areas with a chance of rain. There's also a chance of fog or mist forming in certain coastal and internal areas.

Winds will be moderate to fresh, blowing from the southeast to northeast directions, occasionally becoming strong and causing blowing dust and sand, reducing visibility. The sea conditions will be slight to moderate in both the Arabian Gulf and the Oman Sea.
