Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has announced that in 2022, 621.4 million trips were taken by passengers via public transport.
The numbers have increased by 35%, with 461 million trips taken in 2021.
Passengers utilised RTA facilities, including the Dubai Metro, Dubai Tram, public buses, marine transport, shared mobility and taxis.
The average daily trips on public transport, shared mobility, and taxis reached 1.7 million in 2022, in comparison to 1.3 million in 2021.
The most used mode of transport is the Dubai Metro, which increased to 36% of all trips in 2022, from 33% in 2021.
In 2022, March was the month when public transport was used the most throughout the year, coinciding with the end of Expo 2020, reaching around 62 million passengers, followed by December, which saw 57 million passengers.
