Etihad Airways, along with Marriott International, are set to plant 12,000 mangrove trees at Jubail Island this year.
In an effort to support UAE's aim for sustainability, the plan will span over two months.
The first phase of planting trees took place on 27 January and will span across the UAE's coastline.
The Etihad Forest initiative will have 182,000 trees planted during the first quarter of the year and will further expand to destinations around the world.
Employees at Marriott International will also be able to adopt a tree and monitor its growth and progress through a dedicated app.
