Dubai Health Authority (DHA) has advised the public to ensure that they complete their entire 10 day quarantine period if the person comes in contact with a positive individual.
This applies if a person comes in contact with a positive individual for more than 15 minutes without maintaining 2 metres of distance, they have to quarantine.
Dr Hend Al Awadhi, Head of Health Promotion and Education at the DHA, has highlighted the precautionary measures close contact individuals must follow.
Despite receiving a negative test, individuals that have come in contact need to isolate for 10 days regardless of whether they have symptoms or not.
Those that do develop symptoms, must get tested to see whether they are positive or negative.
Those that have come in close contact need to also inform friends, family and work colleagues that they have come into contact with a positive individual.
Individuals are advised to avoid visiting people while in quarantine or letting people into their home to reduce the risk of the virus spreading.
While in quarantine, individuals should avoid sharing a room or bathroom with others. Those that are high risk can stay at long term care centres.
It is advised to choose home delivery and refrain from going for medical appointments when in isolation.
While in quarantine or if symptoms have developed with the previous three days, it is advised not to get vaccinated.
