New Update For Schengen Visa Applications For UAE Residents

Applying for a Schengen visa, for your European adventures, from the UAE is becoming increasingly digital. Effective 4 August, VFS Global portal, which handles visa appointments and document processing for Schengen countries, will accept digital visa application forms only.

Earlier, you could just book an appointment slot and fill out the application forms later. This is now no longer possible as the online application is integrated into the appointment scheduling process.

The general process starts with completing the online application form on VFS Global portal for the country you are visiting or where you'll be spending most time and then, choosing an available appointment slot at the designated Visa Application Centre.

Once you have confirmed the appointment after completing the online application form, you will need to finalise the application process through the embassy portal, depending on which country you are travelling to.

While UAE citizens can still travel visa-free for short stays in the Schengen area, the change affects those from other nations living in the UAE who require a visa.

Applicants are urged to apply well in advance of their travel dates, as processing times can vary and appointments are allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.

This move towards digital submissions is aimed at making the process more efficient and transparent. For more details, visit VFS Global's website
