Spartan World Championship Coming To Abu Dhabi This November

The Spartan World Championship is returning to Abu Dhabi’s Al Wathba Desert this November, marking its fifth consecutive edition in the UAE capital. From 20 to 23 November, thousands of elite athletes, amateur racers, and families will converge for one of the toughest and most thrilling endurance events on the global calendar. 

Organised by the Abu Dhabi Sports Council in partnership with Spartan Race, the championship promises a mix of high-intensity competition and inclusive community participation, all set against the dramatic backdrop of the desert.

The four-day event kicks off on Thursday, 20 November, with a women-only evening sprint, a 5km race featuring 20 obstacles. This event will be held in full privacy and supported by an all-female crew, providing a culturally sensitive and inclusive space for female competitors.

The action continues on Friday, 21 November, with an open mixed-gender sprint covering 5km and 20 obstacles.

Saturday, 22 November, will see the toughest test of all, the 'Beast 21K World Championships', where elite and age-group athletes will tackle 30 obstacles over a distance of 21km. The same day also features races for children covering 1km to 3km, making it a fun and active day out for families.

The event wraps up on Sunday, 23 November, with the Elite Teams World Championship comprising of three-person teams including two males and one female, as well as open races covering 10km and 5km, inviting athletes of all backgrounds to experience the Spartan thrill.
