His Excellency Mattar Mohammed Al Tayer, Director-General, Chairman of the Board of Executive Directors of the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has announced that the Dubai Taxi Corporation (DTC) will launch the London style taxis in Dubai.
The new taxis will run on electricity as well as fuel, and will be in black in colour and have a semi-curved shape that replicates the London cabs operating in the British capital.
They will feature a spacious interior with six seats in a separate cabin, which will also be convenient for people of determination. Each taxi only requires about 30 minutes of charging time make it capable to run on roads for longer.
The taxis have inbuilt WiFi connection, a satellite-based navigation system, voice command system, forward-collision warning system, blind-spot monitoring system and lane departure warning system.
The new taxis will be available for trial from Dubai International Airport in February.
