Holders Of Expired Visit Visas Can Leave The UAE In Four Days Without Fines

The Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship (ICA) is allowing holders of expired UAE visit or tourist visas to leave the country in the next four days without paying fines.

Holders of visit or tourist visas that have expired after 1 March, 2020 have four days to either change their status by obtaining a visit or employment visa, or leave the country without fines.

The ICA announcement also mentioned that holders of expired visit visas had been given a month, starting from 11 August to 11 September, to exit the country without having to pay fines.

If an individual fails to comply, overstay fines will be strictly implemented on those with expired visit or tourist visas in the UAE.

The UAE government’s official website states that tourists or visitors who stay beyond the grace period will be fined AED 200 for the first day of overstay and AED 100 for each day that follows, in addition to a service fee of AED 100.

ICA tweeted on its official Twitter account: “The Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship extends the grace period for holders of expiring entry permits, starting from 11/8/2020 for a period of one month, with the aim of enabling them to leave the country with exemption from all fines during this period.”
