Are you planning to be around Dubai this evening to see some of the many firework shows. Are you one of the many people heading to Downtown Dubai to see in the New Year? The advice is, wherever it is you are going, get there early and before the road closures are in place.
A lot of preparations have been put in place for tonights celebrations, especially around Burj Khalifa where an amazing firework and light show will see in the New Year. The anticipated 8 minute show is expected to be witnessed by up to 2 million revellers, which is sure to make the area significantly congested, in the hours before as well as in the first few hours of 2019.
Around 40 different government bodies have been preparing for this evening, to ensure things run smoothly for everyone that is out to enjoy the festivities, and Dubai Police have confirmed that there will be in the region of 4,000 police officers and 2,000 patrol vehicles to effectively manage the safety and security.
“New Year celebration is a major event in Dubai. We work with other departments as one team to provide security, safety and happiness to people. We will have more than 12,000 security cameras to cover Burj Khalifa and Dubai Mall area and a main command room in the area for emergencies,” commented Major General Abdullah Khalifa Al Merri, Commander-In-Chief of Dubai police.
HE Mattar Al Tayer, Director General and Chairman of the Board of Executive Directors of the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) said “Traffic movement will be controlled through the RTA command and control centre. It is one of the largest and most modern control centres in the world. It uses intelligent technologies and its ability to achieve integration and control of all means of public transportation,”
