You may have noticed a slight change on your mobile phone over the weekend. In honour of International Tolerance Day, held on 16 November, mobile phone networks changed their names to say ‘UAE Tolerance.’ International Tolerance Day is celebrated for the first time in the region, as the UAE Ministry of Tolerance is holding a week-long festival in honour of the late founding father Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan.
The United Nations first celebrated International Tolerance Day in 1996, in an effort to spread awareness about tolerance, respect and dignity all over the world.
