The increased usage of Dubai Metro is doing wonders for the environment. The reduction of carbon emissions has reached up to 943 tonnes every day due to residents swapping from cars to the use of public transport.
Dubai Metro has helped reduce 341,000 tonnes of carbon emissions in 2017. According to the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) this is enough to light up 46,000 homes for an entire year.

The RTA has stated that, "The initiative aims at enhancing the role of Dubai in supporting efforts to improve the environment.
