In order to monitor the amount of pollution in the air, the Ministry of Climate Change and Environment has launched an air quality monitoring station. This is one of 41 stations which conform with the criteria issued by the European Union as well as the US Environmental Protection Agency. The station is specially designed to detect nitrogen oxide, sulphur oxide, carbon monoxide as well as detecting the size of particle matter, temperature, wind speed and humidity.
Minister of Climate Change and Environment, Dr Thani bin Ahmad Al Zeyoudi said, “Air monitoring stations keep air pollution in check, mainly around urban areas that see far higher concentration levels of pollutants. The readings they provide play a vital role in making informed decisions to help the nation achieve its targets. We are confident we will see enhanced projects and initiatives that aim to cut down the levels of pollutants emitted into the air we breathe.”
