Ride-hailing app Uber has rolled out new safety features for its passengers and drivers across 38 countries including the GCC. The new safety toolkit aims to double down on safety and help make the Uber community safer.
New features include the ‘Emergency Button’, on the app which will help passengers and drivers to connect directly to emergency assistance service when needed.
Passengers can now easily designate five friends or family members as “trusted contacts” and, with a single tap, share their trip information with them. Enhancing the privacy settings for passengers and drivers, a new feature will allow them to call each other while maintaining the privacy of their number.
A new feature on speed will make sure that the drivers are driving within the speed limits.
Under the new initiative, the ride-hailing app has limited driving hours for drivers. The feature will keep a tab on how long they’ve been driving with Uber and resets after six hours.
