A new order issued by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai exempts drivers from vehicle impound with minor offences. Drivers in Dubai must not have a history of any major traffic violations that include reckless driving, racing on the road and jumping on traffic light. Sheikh Mohammed also ordered the release of vehicles that have completed half of the impoundment period. The initiative aims to encourage drivers to maintain a clean driving record and give another opportunity for residents to abide by traffic laws. Commander-In-Chief of Dubai Police Major General Abdullah Khalifa Al Marri has called on drivers to be more vigilant on the road to avoid accidents.
