Planning To Head Out Over The Holiday Weekend? Here’s What The Weather Will Look Like

UAE residents can expect cooler temperatures and slight rain over the holiday weekend. While you can plan outdoor activities in the first part of the long weekend, the second half turns more unsettled with a higher chance of rain, dust, and lower visibility.

According to the UAE’s National Centre of Meteorology (NCM), the weather will be cloudy on Wednesday 18 March and Thursday, 19 March, with a chance of light rain in western, coastal and island areas which include Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Sharjah, Ajman, Umm Al Quwain, and Ras Al Khaimah. This is one of the better days for outdoor walks, or evening dinners, though not the best day to rely on completely open-air plans without a fallback.

On Friday, 20 March, conditions become less predictable. Dubai is forecast at a high of 32°C during the day and low of 25°C at night, and Abu Dhabi at a high of 34°C during the day and low of 24°C at night. NCM says temperatures will rise and there is a chance of rain over scattered areas. That means it will feel warmer, but residents should still be ready for passing showers. It is a reasonable day to be outdoors, but not the best day for long uninterrupted open-air plans.

For Saturday, 21 March, you can still go outdoors, but this is not a very stable weather day. Dubai is forecast at a high of 31°C during the day and low of 23°C at night, and Abu Dhabi at a high of 32°C in the day and low of 23°C at night. NCM says there is a chance of rain, accompanied by winds that may cause blowing dust and sand, reducing visibility. This is a day to stay flexible. Short outdoor visits are fine, but long beach days, desert trips, boating, or fully exposed events are riskier.

For Sunday, 22 March, residents can expect cloudy weather with rain dust and sand, reducing visibility. Dubai is forecast at a high of 30°C during the day and low of 22°C at night, while Abu Dhabi will witness at a high of 30°C during the day and low of 22°C at night.

Outdoor plans are still possible, but this is another day where indoor venues, mall-based plans, or shorter outings are safer choices. It is especially worth being cautious if you are driving longer distances or planning anything at sea, because visibility and sea conditions are expected to worsen at times.

Overall, the most outdoor-friendly days are Wednesday, 18 March and Thursday, 19 March. Friday, 20 March might still be workable but warmer and less settled. Saturday, 21 March and Sunday, 22 March are the least stable days because of the combination of possible rain and dust.

So yes, you can go outdoors this Eid break, but it is better to keep plans flexible, avoid long exposed outings later in the break, and check conditions before heading out.
