The UAE has secured its highest-ever position in the World Happiness Index, ranking 21st globally, surpassing major economies such as the UK, US, Germany, and France. This achievement solidifies the country’s status as the happiest in the Arab world and reflects its continued efforts to enhance quality of life and economic stability.

The Global Happiness Index is based on a three-year average of people’s life satisfaction. The UAE’s rise in the rankings is attributed to:

  • Strong economic performance: UAE remain a resilient economy with high employment rates and job market confidence.
  • Social support and infrastructure: UAE government continues to prioritise citizen well-being, world-class healthcare and public services.
  • Positive living standards: UAE residents report higher satisfaction with their standard of living and financial security than in previous years.

Finland retained its top spot for the eighth consecutive year, followed by Denmark, Iceland, Sweden, and the Netherlands. The UAE’s rank of 21st places it ahead of several traditionally strong economies, underscoring its commitment to creating a thriving, supportive environment for residents.

As the UAE continues to invest in sustainability, innovation, and quality of life, its position on the global happiness stage is expected to rise further. With initiatives focused on community engagement, mental well-being and social inclusivity, the UAE is setting a benchmark for happiness-driven governance in the region and beyond.
