RTA Completes Enhancements In Sheikh Zayed Road, Cutting Travel Time By 60%

WAM

Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has completed rapid traffic enhancements on Sheikh Zayed Road, significantly improving traffic flow and reducing travel time from five minutes to just two minutes in key areas. It reduces congestions at key intersections and increase road capacity, thereby ensuring smoother traffic flow while maintaining road safety.

Key Highlights:

  • Capacity Boost: Expansion of the service road near Financial Centre Metro Station (Abu Dhabi-bound) from three to four lanes, increasing capacity by 25% to handle 3,200 vehicles per hour.
  • Faster Travel: Traffic merging distance between Al Khail Road and Financial Centre Street extended, leading to 25% shorter journey times, from four minutes to three minutes, for Dubai-bound traffic.
  • Reduced Congestion: Eliminated vehicle queues, improved entry points, and ensured smoother, more efficient movement along this key economic corridor.

This project aligns with RTA’s mission to enhance Dubai’s road network, optimise efficiency, and uphold top-tier safety standards for residents and commuters.
