GEMS Education has announced a strict new policy to tackle the increasing prevalence of vaping among students, reinforcing its commitment to ensuring a safe and healthy school environment.
The initiative will include:
- Installation of state-of-the-art vaping detection sensors in key locations across GEMS schools, sending real-time alerts to school administrators when vaping is detected.
- Random bag checks to prevent students from bringing vapes onto school premises.
- Enhanced student education programmes on the dangers of vaping and nicotine addiction.
- Support and counselling for students struggling with nicotine dependency.
GEMS Education is the first major school group in the region to roll out such comprehensive anti-vaping measures, setting a new benchmark for student safety. Beyond enforcement, GEMS is prioritising education to ensure students fully understand the risks associated with vaping. Awareness campaigns will be integrated into the curriculum, and health professionals will be engaged to support students in making informed choices about their well-being.
