At its latest meeting, The Executive Council of Dubai, chaired by His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Defence, and Chairman of The Executive Council of Dubai, approved a series of initiatives aimed at expanding affordable housing, improving Arabic and Islamic studies in private schools, and enabling Emiratis to work as independent legal consultants.
These efforts align with Dubai’s vision to empower communities, attract global talent and enhance economic and social well-being. Here are the details:
1. Affordable Housing: 17,080 New Residential Units
As part of Dubai’s Affordable Housing Policy, 1.46 million square metres of land has been allocated to develop 17,080 residential units. A range of housing options will be considered to ensure a balance of affordability and quality while enhancing Dubai’s diverse and inclusive community.
Key locations for the first phase:
- Al Mueisim 1
- Al Twar 1
- Al Qusais Industrial 5
- Al Leyan 1
The project will be executed by a multi-governmental collaboration and will be overseen by the Supreme Committee for Urban Planning.
2. Strengthening Arabic And Islamic Studies In Private Schools
A new education policy has been introduced to enhance the quality of Arabic language and Islamic studies in private schools as part of the Dubai Education Strategy 2033.
Key features of the initiative:
- Modern, interactive learning materials to boost student engagement
- Increased focus on critical thinking and research skills
- Policy to increase Emirati educators in Arabic language and Islamic studies.
- School-parent collaboration to support curriculum development
The Knowledge and Human Development Authority will oversee the policy’s implementation in collaboration with private schools, universities and teacher training institutions.
3. Independent Legal Consultant Project
A new legal initiative will enable Emirati professionals to offer legal consultancy services, excluding litigation, independently without the need for a physical office. This will provide opportunities for Emiratis, including retirees, academics and professionals seeking remote work alternatives. The pilot phase, which covers real estate and personal status law, will be implemented and evaluated by the Legal Affairs Department of the Government of Dubai.
