Dubai Police have rolled out advanced AI-enabled radar systems to strengthen traffic enforcement across the emirate. These smart cameras can detect a wide range of violations, including speeding, failure to wear seat belts, using a mobile phone while driving, and excessive engine noise. The initiative aligns with efforts to enhance road safety and reduce traffic accidents.

During a press conference at Dubai Police Headquarters, officials detailed the violations monitored by these AI systems, along with associated fines, vehicle impoundment durations, and black points. The cameras can even see through tinted windows to check for seat belt usage and automatically issue fines based on detected violations.

Key Violations And Penalties

The AI-powered cameras can detect:

  • Speeding above the limit: Speeding over 80kph above the limit results in Dhs 3,000 fine, 60-day vehicle impoundment, 23 black points, while speeding over 60kph above the limit can result in Dhs 2,000 fine, 20-day vehicle impoundment, 12 black points. A fine of Dhs 1,000 applicable for speeding 50kph over the limit, Dhs 700 for exceeding it by more than 40kph, Dhs 600 for exceeding limit by 30kph or more and Dhs 300 for exceeding limit by more than 20kph.
