UAE National Day, celebrated on 2 December each year, will now be known as 'Eid Al Etihad'.
Eid Al Etihad commemorates the historic event of 2 December 2, 1971, when the United Arab Emirates was established, and the new name embodies the nation's unity and collective spirit, and highlights the theme of union, a cornerstone of the country's identity and heritage.
With 2 December falling on a Monday this year and two days holiday usually being given for Eid Al Etihad, running into 3 December, most residents can enjoy a 4 day weekend to mark the occasion of the 53rd Eid Al Etihad.
Celebrations will take place across the UAE, with dedicated 'Eid Al Etihad Zones' set up in all seven Emirates, offering a range of family-friendly activities and cultural performances.
