Dubai Police have taken action in a case of child abuse after a 10-year-old boy reached out through the force’s smart app to report repeated physical violence from his father.

The Child and Women Protection Department at Dubai Police launched an investigation immediately after the report was filed. The boy, who had been suffering in silence, shared that he had been subjected to regular beatings at home, leaving him with visible bruises. The child attempted to hide the injuries from classmates, unsure of why he was being targeted.

The case came to light when school staff noticed changes in the child’s behaviour and academic performance. A social worker at the school gained the boy’s trust and encouraged him to seek help through official police channels.

The father was summoned for questioning, where he admitted to the abuse but claimed it was a method of discipline influenced by his own childhood. Dubai Police stressed that such actions are unacceptable and in violation of Wadeema, the UAE’s child protection legislation.

The boy is now receiving ongoing psychological and social support, while legal proceedings against the father are underway. The father has pledged to change his behaviour, under close monitoring.

Dubai Police have reminded the public that child abuse can be reported confidentially via the Dubai Police smart app, the official website, or the 901 hotline.
