In a heartwarming initiative focused on inclusivity and empowerment, Dubai Airports partnered with Al Jalila Foundation to host a guided travel simulation at Dubai International Airport (DXB) for children with autism spectrum disorder, helping them and their families gain confidence and comfort while navigating the airport environment.
The experience was organised as part of the Ta’alouf Programme run by Al Jalila Foundation, which has, over the last 13 years, equipped caregivers and educators with essential tools to support children of determination, including those with autism, Down syndrome and other developmental conditions.
The simulation, held in line with the UAE's Year of the Community, took participants through key airport steps such as check-in, passport control, and boarding, all within a calm and structured environment tailored to their needs. Trained staff supported the children every step of the way, aiming to reduce anxiety and foster a sense of familiarity.
The effort is also part of Dubai Airports’ broader 'We All Meet the World Differently' campaign and reinforces DXB’s distinction as the world’s first international airport to receive the 'Certified Autism Centre' designation.
