Abu Dhabi Gets Two New Paid Parking Areas

Abu Dhabi has introduced two new parking zones as part of Abu Dhabi Mobility’s initiative to expand the Mawaqif System beyond Abu Dhabi Island. The new system will be implemented in the Khalifa Commercial and Etihad Plaza areas, covering sectors SW2, SE45, and SE48, starting Monday, 29 July.

In Khalifa Commerical, the parking zone is in sector SW2. Sector SW2 is positioned between Al Marmouq Street to the west and Al Qalayid Street to the east, bounded by Theyab Bin Eissa Street to the north and Al Murahibeen Street to the south, features 523 parking spots, including 17 for people of determination.

In Etihad Plaza, the parking zone will be available in two sectors, SE45 and SE48. Sector SE48, located at the Etihad Airways headquarters on Al Mireef Street, offers 694 parking spots, including three designated for people of determination.

Sector SE45, situated at Etihad Plaza between Al Mireef and Al Ibtisamah Streets, provides 1,283 parking spaces, with 17 reserved for people of determination.

The new parking zones are part of Abu Dhabi's broader transport development strategy, aimed at regulating public parking use and enhancing traffic flow. Infrastructure work, including sidewalk painting and signage installation, has been completed to support these changes. The initiative seeks to optimise parking usage, reduce illegal parking, enhance city safety, and improve the streets' visual appeal.

To raise awareness, Abu Dhabi Mobility has distributed informational brochures about the Mawaqif service, its usage procedures, and its benefits to businesses and visitors in the Khalifa Commercial and Etihad Plaza areas.
