Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), in collaboration with Majid Al Futtaim Group, has launched a project to enhance and expand the entrances to the Mall of the Emirates and nearby streets and intersections. The Dhs 165 million initiative also includes upgrades to pedestrian and cycling paths.
The key aspects of the Dhs 165 million project include constructing a 300-metre bridge on Sheikh Zayed Road with a single lane to offer direct access to the mall's parking for drivers coming from Abu Dhabi and Jebel Ali. The ramp at the Umm Suqeim intersection will be widened and improved to streamline vehicle flow from Umm Suqeim Street to the mall’s parking areas.
Additional improvements involve resurfacing 2.5km of roads around the mall, developing three signalised intersections, modifying the bus station at the Mall of the Emirates Metro Station, converting a street next to Kempinski Hotel from one-way to two-way, and upgrading pedestrian and cycling facilities. The project includes paving, lighting, traffic signals, rainwater drainage, and landscaping enhancements.
For visitors coming from Abu Dhabi and Jebel Ali who often face traffic congestion, the project will benefit you by reducing the travel time to the Mall of the Emirates from 10 minutes to just one minute, easing congestion and minimising delays.
It will also reduce travel time for people coming from Umm Suqeim from 15 minutes to 8 minutes, significantly boosting traffic efficiency and safety in the area.
