TIME, the renowned American news magazine, has unveiled its annual list of the World’s Greatest Places, spotlighting 100 exceptional destinations. Among the impressive entries is Abu Dhabi’s Abrahamic Family House, recognised as a standout new destination. TIME curates this list by gathering nominations for hotels, cruises, restaurants, attractions, museums, parks, and other venues from its global network of correspondents and contributors, focusing on locations that provide unique and innovative experiences.
TIME highlights Abu Dhabi's Abrahamic Family House as an essential site for promoting mutual understanding, featuring a mosque, synagogue, and church. Opened in March 2023, this centre emphasises peaceful coexistence and interfaith dialogue, serving as a place of worship for the UAE's Muslim, Jewish, and Christian communities. In its first year, it welcomed over 250,000 worshippers and visitors and hosted more than 250 community events.
Designed by Ghanaian-British architect David Adjaye, the three worship spaces are housed in identical, yet individually distinct concrete cubes. This design ensures no one building overshadows another, achieving a harmonious visual balance while respecting each religion’s uniqueness.
Situated on Saadiyat Island, the Abrahamic Family House is adjacent to the Jean Nouvel-designed Louvre Abu Dhabi and the Bassam Freiha Art Foundation, with future additions including a Natural History Museum, the Zayed National Museum, and a Guggenheim outpost.
To visit the Abrahamic Family House, you must book your visit and guided tours online in advance. The centre is open daily from 10am to 5pm, and entrance is free. Be sure to reserve your ticket ahead of time.
Topping the list is Maui Cultural Lands in Lahaina, Hawaii, followed by Kamba African Rainforest Experiences in Odzala-Kokoua National Park, Republic of the Congo, and the Pearling Path in Muharraq, Bahrain. You can view the entire list here.
