Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has announced a significant traffic update, completing enhancements along Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road, including the surface expansion of Exit 55 leading to Al Rebat Street. This project extended over 600 metres and included increasing the traffic merging area and introducing an additional lane, effectively increasing the total number of lanes from two to three.
The surface expansion of Exit 55 highlights its crucial role in enhancing traffic safety and boosting the exit's capacity from Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road to Al Rebat Street. This upgrade increases the capacity from 3,000 vehicles per hour to 4,500 vehicles per hour, representing a 50% improvement. Additionally, it reduces travel time from Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road to Al Rebat Street near Business Bay Crossing from 10 minutes to just 4 minutes, marking a significant 60% decrease in travel duration.
The enhancement of the exit from Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road to Al Rebat Street is a key part of RTA's 2024 improvement projects. These initiatives contribute to Dubai's sustainable development goals and aim to elevate residents' happiness and well-being, further solidifying Dubai's position as a leading city to reside in.
