Dubai South, renowned as the largest single-urban master development focusing on aviation, logistics, and real estate, has announced the successful completion of the trial phase of autonomous vehicle trials in collaboration with Evocargo. These groundbreaking trials were conducted within a designated route in the closed area of the Dubai South Logistics District.

Evocargo evaluated and validated the hardware, software, and reliability of its unmanned electric truck, the Evocargo N1, during these trials. The focus was on assessing its readiness for future deployment within the Logistics District. Specifically, the trials tested the truck's autonomous navigation capabilities along a predefined route, emphasising safety in mixed traffic scenarios involving interaction with automobiles, trucks, and pedestrians. Key performance areas included object detection, accident prevention, collision avoidance with moving obstacles, and emergency stop functionalities.

Comprehensive testing also included the truck's autopilot system, evaluating parking, reverse parking, turning, and reverse turning. The functionality of the control centre, crucial for route management, remote monitoring, and control, underwent rigorous testing as well.

Throughout the series of tests, no failures or potentially hazardous incidents were reported, affirming the reliability and safety of the Evocargo N1.

Mohsen Ahmad, CEO of the Dubai South Logistics District expressed pride in achieving this milestone, underscoring Dubai South's commitment to supporting the leadership's vision of positioning Dubai as a global logistics hub.
