Dubai To Advance Astronaut Health And Space Healthcare Innovation

The Mohammed Bin Rashid Space Centre (MBRSC) has signed an agreement with Dubai Health to collaborate in creating an ideal environment for the health and safety of Emirati astronauts before and after their space missions. This partnership aims to foster innovation in health sciences while prioritising the well-being of astronauts. The agreement was signed by His Excellency Salem Humaid AlMarri, Director General, MBRSC, and. Dr Amer Sharif, CEO of Dubai Health, at the Centre’s headquarters recently.

His Excellency Salem Humaid AlMarri, Director General, MBRSC, said, “The health and safety of our astronauts are paramount, and this agreement will ensure that they receive the best possible care before, during, and after their missions. In the rapidly evolving space sector, collaboration is the way forward. By integrating our efforts with Dubai Health, we are not only enhancing the well-being of our astronauts but also pushing the boundaries of space healthcare and driving innovation in health sciences."

Emirati astronauts are a source of national pride and a significant asset for the UAE, contributing to advancements in knowledge and scientific capabilities while enhancing the country's global standing.

The agreement between MBRSC and Dubai Health outlines various initiatives aimed at safeguarding the health and well-being of astronauts. Collaboratively, the Centre and Dubai Health will conduct thorough health assessments for astronauts before their missions, which include medical exams, screenings, and evaluations to ensure they are fit for space travel.

Moreover, MBRSC will develop astronaut training programs in partnership with Dubai Health, ensuring astronauts are well-prepared for health protocols and emergencies. The agreement also facilitates the integration and exchange of health data with healthcare providers to ensure comprehensive astronaut care. Both organisations will jointly innovate medical technologies and methodologies related to space healthcare, promoting ongoing advancements in the field.
