GEMS Education students demonstrated their innovative prowess at the seventh Global Innovation Challenge 2024 over the weekend, competing for seeding funds of up to Dhs 10,000 to advance their projects to market. This annual event, spanning nine months, engaged 350 teams and 1,100 young minds from eight GEMS Clusters and 44 schools across the UAE and Qatar.
Aligned with Dubai Future Solutions - Prototypes for Humanity, the challenge nurtures innovative prototypes and solutions. Finalists showcased exceptional creativity, with Gold teams progressing through rigorous stages from ideation to a grand exhibition last November. They refined their projects with industry mentorship and presented them to a panel of expert judges.
This year's projects addressed global challenges like food security, health, gender equality, clean energy, and education, marking a significant contribution by the student finalists.
Nargish Khambatta, Senior Vice President, Education of GEMS and the Principal, CEO of GEMS Modern Academy, which hosted the awards event at the weekend, summed up, "The journey of the GEMS Global Innovation Challenge epitomises the essence of education’s aspirations, nurturing creativity, resilience, and a fervour for problem-solving. Over the past nine months, our students have translated ideas into impactful solutions, embodying the spirit of innovation that defines us. As we celebrate their achievements today, we reaffirm our commitment to fostering an environment that encourages ingenuity and equips our students to be the architects of tomorrow’s changes."
